Leonard is a former lecturer at California State University Monterey Bay who taught courses in Taiji (Tai Chi), Chinese Qi Gong, and Chinese Lion Dance with the Department of Kinesiology from 1998-2016. He has studied Taiji in China and taught Taiji, Qi Gong, Martial Arts, and the Cultural Performance Art of Chinese Lion Dance for over 35 years.

He is certified in Qi Gong and Taiji thru the International Healing Tao under Qi Gong Grandmaster Mantak Chia, and is 59th Indoor Disciple of Grandmaster Chen Qingzhou, 19th generation direct descendant, Chen Family Taijiquan. In addition, he is a certified instructor with Dr. Paul Lam’s Taiji For Arthritis Program and Qingzhou Zungu Taijiquan, USA.

Currently his teaching schedule includes Taiji, Qi Gong and Chinese Lion Dance classes at the Japanese American Citizens League Building downtown Monterey, Chamisal Tennis and Fitness Club, Carmel Valley, the Carmel Valley Manor as well as private sessions.

Since 1982 his teaching and training in Taiji and Qi Gong have gone hand-in-hand with his principal vocation as a visual artist in painting, drawing and printmaking.
